Promising start to the season in MotorLand

The 2025 Formula 4 Spanish Championship season kicked off this weekend at MotorLand Aragón. GRS completed a positive start to the season, where the progression of the driver is a good sign ahead of the rest of the season.

On March 29-30, MotorLand Aragón hosted the Formula 4 Spanish Championship season opener. The championship was ready for its tenth campaign, which is also GRS Team’s seventh full year in the series. The team entered a two-driver line-up. After taking part in the final EuroCup-4 Spanish Winter Championship alongside GRS, Aleksandar Bogunovic stayed in the team for the start of the main season. His teammate was Daniel Dallakyan, who was making his single seater racing debut, stepping up from karting.

Two collective test sessions took place on Friday. The team used that track time to finish the set up of the cars while the drivers had the opportunity to do more laps, which would be helpful in their preparation for the weekend.

On Saturday morning, the only Free Practice session took place. Track limits turned out to be problematic for the whole grid, and our drivers were no exception. Dallakyan got some of his qualifying laps deleted because of these violations. He would therefore start the race in P33. Bogunovic qualified in 26th position.

In Race 1, both drivers were once again affected by penalties for track limits. Despite this setback, both managed to gain positions on track and shown good racecraft. In the end, Bogunovic was 22nd and Dallakyan was 34th. The key goal for the race, however, was to keep learning.

The second qualifying session was held on Sunday morning. This would set the grid for Race 3. Both drivers remarkably improved their results from previous days, with Bogunovic qualifying in P18 and Dallakyan in P24.

On Race 2, the shortest one, comebacks on difficult conditions also played a relevant role. Aleksandar was 22nd with Daniel in 30th position.

Our best opportunity would come on the last one. Bogunovic climbed up to reach 16th position at the start, but he lost his chances after being forced to take avoiding action so he would not be involved in an incident in front of him. Daniel, on the other hand, gained multiple positions to finish in 21st, his best result of the weekend.

The weekend ends with the hope that a promising season lies ahead for the team. Both the drivers and the team staff did an excellent job, and once everyone gains more experience, the results will come.

Formula 4 Spanish Championship will return on May 3-4 at Circuito de Navarra.
