Rayan Caretti’s P10 finish in Race 2 allowed GRS Team to score points for the second consecutive EuroCup-3 round.
The 2026 EuroCup-3 season reached its halfway point this weekend with the fourth round of the championship, held at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. It was an event in which GRS Team steadily improved throughout the weekend, overcoming a difficult start to eventually finish in the points.
Once again, the team arrived with changes to its driver line-up. Dani Macià took the wheel of car Nº. 70 at the Temple of Speed. The Spanish driver returned to GRS after contesting part of the 2023 Formula 4 Spanish Championship season with the team. Macià made his EuroCup-3 debut at the end of 2025, but this weekend marked his first experience behind the wheel of the new Dallara 326. Alongside him, as always in car Nº. 44, was Rayan Caretti.
The weekend began on Friday with three pre-event test sessions, during which the team completed its preparations for the competitive action ahead. As expected, top speed would prove crucial around Monza, making a well-timed slipstream in qualifying one of the key factors in achieving a strong result.
Saturday began with the first qualifying session. Unfortunately, neither of our drivers managed to benefit from a tow and both were forced to complete their fastest laps on their own. A red flag with five minutes remaining also disrupted their progress. In the end, Caretti qualified P22, while Macià secured P24.
Both drivers made strong starts in Race 1. Caretti moved into the Top 20, with Macià following just a few positions behind. While battling for position, the French driver was forced off the circuit by another competitor, and Macià also had to take avoiding action, dropping both GRS cars to the back of the field. Fortunately, neither car suffered significant damage, allowing both drivers to recover several positions before the finish. Caretti crossed the line in P22, with Macià in P25. However, following a number of post-race penalties, Macià was promoted to P22, while Caretti, one of the penalised drivers, dropped to P26.
The race pace had been encouraging, but improving qualifying performance remained essential to fight for stronger results. Sunday morning’s second qualifying session showed clear progress. Caretti secured P17 on the grid for Race 2, while Macià qualified P22.
Race 2 turned into a dramatic recovery drive for Caretti. The Frenchman stalled at the start and dropped to the back of the field. Lap after lap, despite continuous on-the-limit action involving other drivers, he steadily worked his way forward. He also capitalised on the chaos and multiple accidents ahead to climb into an excellent 11th place. His race, however, was not over at the chequered flag. A post-race penalty for another competitor promoted Rayan to P10, allowing GRS Team to score points for the second consecutive round. After a chaotic race, Caretti once again demonstrated his ability to survive the incidents, recover through the field and maximise the result. Macià, meanwhile, did not take the start of Race 2.
This concludes another weekend in which, much like the previous round at Imola, the final result was rewarding despite the challenges encountered throughout the event. The team leaves Monza with another points finish, while Caretti continues to establish himself in the midfield battle. The focus now turns to maintaining this momentum, continuing to improve and refining the remaining areas for development, particularly qualifying performance. Congratulations to both drivers and every member of the team for their outstanding work and commitment throughout the weekend.
EuroCup-3 now enters a summer break of more than one month. After a well-earned rest, the championship will return on September 11–13 at another legendary venue: Silverstone Circuit.
