After a two-month summer break, the Formula 4 Spanish Championship returned this past weekend. Jerez hosted the opening event of the season’s final stretch, where GRS achieved its best results of the year.
The fifth round of Formula 4 Spanish Championship took place on September 20–21. Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto welcomed the series for its first race weekend since July, marking the end of the summer pause.
GRS Team returned to action with renewed energy and high spirits to tackle the final stages of what has been a challenging 2025 season. Once again, it was Aleksandar Bogunovič who represented the team on track.
The Slovenian driver immediately showed he had come back from the summer break in strong form. From Friday’s official test sessions, Bogunovič displayed competitive pace, allowing the team to fine-tune preparations ahead of the weekend. As is always the case in the Formula 4 Spanish Championship, the field was extremely tight, with every tenth of a second proving decisive.
On Saturday, the team confirmed the positive signs from testing. After free practice, qualifying set the grid for Races 1 and 2. Bogunovič delivered a fantastic performance to secure 18th on the grid, his best qualifying result of the season. His second-best lap also ensured he would start Race 2, held on Sunday, from P21.
In Race 1, Aleksandar spent the entire race battling within the group fighting for the Top 15. After a strong start, he held his position well. Following a Safety Car period, he briefly lost a place on the restart but quickly regrouped. With a spectacular move in which he overtook two rivals in a single corner, Bogunovič crossed the line in 14th place, his best-ever result in Formula 4 and the team’s best finish of the season so far.
Sunday began with the second qualifying session, which set the grid for Race 3. It was a more difficult outing for the team, with Bogunovič placing 29th.
Race 2 saw the Slovenian driver finish where he started, in P21. He made a strong getaway and briefly broke into the Top 20, but a setback dropped him back down the order.
Finally, in Race 3, Bogunovič capitalized on multiple incidents on the opening lap to climb from the back of the grid into the fight for the Top 20. He pushed hard within that group and eventually finished in 23rd position.
This marked the first race weekend after the summer break, and while the season has not been easy, GRS managed to secure its best result of 2025 in the Formula 4 Spanish Championship. This progress reflects the hard work carried out by the entire team in preparing for the final stretch of the season. The team is heading in the right direction, and these results provide a major morale boost to tackle the remaining rounds with even greater ambition.
Formula 4 Spanish Championship will return on October 18–19 at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. GRS Team will head into its home race determined to continue giving its all in every session.
