Paul Ricard Circuit hosted the fourth round of the Formula 4 Spanish Championship season, in what was a challenging weekend for GRS. The team finished outside the points but remains confident about turning things around in the second half of the season.
On June 21-22, the Formula 4 Spanish Championship visited France for the fourth round of the season. Paul Ricard Circuit, known for its technical 5.8-kilometer layout and distinctive colorful asphalt run-offs, was the venue for the event. After this round, the championship now heads into a long summer break.
GRS lined up with the same driver pairing that has contested the season so far: Daniel Dallakyan and Aleksandar Bogunovič. Preparation for the weekend included two test days on Thursday, which allowed the team to fine-tune the car setup and gain valuable mileage on a track that was new to both drivers.
Saturday kicked off with the first qualifying session. Both drivers struggled to put together strong laps, which meant it would be another weekend of fighting from the back of the grid. Bogunovič qualified in 30th position, with Dallakyan starting 32nd.
As has been the case in other rounds this season, our drivers made up for the challenging qualifying with solid race performances. In Race 1, both capitalized on the chaos in the opening laps to gain several places and move into the Top 25. Bogunovič faced some issues that limited his progress, but the Slovenian driver kept pushing and crossed the line in P25. Dallakyan delivered an excellent race, climbing to P23.
The second qualifying session set the grid for Sunday’s races. Although the gap to the front was smaller compared to Saturday, their grid positions were similar: Aleksandar qualified 29th and Daniel 32nd.
Race 2 proved to be the toughest challenge of the weekend. Both drivers made strong starts, battling for positions in the lower half of the field. Unfortunately, contact with another car on lap three caused damage to Dallakyan’s car, forcing him to retire. Bogunovič managed to work his way up to 23rd place.
In the last race of the weekend, both Dallakyan and Bogunovič gained several positions in the opening laps, running close to the Top 20 and fighting each other for position. Unfortunately, the Armenian driver had to retire for the second consecutive race due to damage. Bogunovič continued his charge and finished P21 — the team’s best result of the weekend.
With this, we wrap up the first half of the 2025 Formula 4 Spanish Championship season. It isn’t being an easy year, but both the drivers and the entire team are working hard to come back stronger and achieve better results in the remaining rounds. There are still many races to go, and the team refuses to give up. We are confident we can improve our performance in the final part of the season.
The Formula 4 Spanish Championship now heads into the summer break. The championship will return at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto on the weekend of September 20-21.
