Baja Aragón debut ends with T4 class Top 10 Finish

GRS Team completed its first-ever participation in the prestigious Baja Aragón, Round 4 of the Spanish Rally Raid Championship (CERTT), with a strong performance, finishing inside the overall Top 30 and securing 8th place in the T4 class.

From July 25 to 27, the city of Teruel hosted a new edition of the Baja Aragón. With over 40 years of history, the event is one of the most prestigious and renowned Rally Raid events in the world. It counts towards both the FIA European and World Cups for Cross-Country Bajas, as well as the Spanish Rally Riad Championship (CERTT).

The 2025 edition once again brought together some of the best drivers in the discipline. As part of its CERTT campaign, GRS Team took part in the Baja Aragón for the first time in its history. After skipping the previous round in Lorca, the team returned to action with Josep Trinidad behind the wheel of the team’s CanAm Maverick, competing in the T4 class alongside co-driver Sergi Brugué.

Strong heat was a key factor throughout the Baja. The action kicked off Friday afternoon with the Prologue Stage, which set the starting order for Saturday. It wasn’t the smoothest start for the team, but the real racing would come on Saturday and Sunday.

In the first Special Stage, Trinidad and Brugué narrowly missed out on a spot in the T4 Top 10, though they were quite far from the front runners overall. The team lost time behind a slower car that blocked overtaking opportunities. Later, when another competitor caught up to the group stuck behind that slower car, GRS was unfairly handed a 10-minute penalty for not yielding, a manoeuvre that was impossible for Trinidad due to the traffic ahead.

Stage 2 saw the team pick up the pace. Thanks to a strong performance across a gruelling 200-kilometer stage, they climbed into the T4 Top 10 and positioned themselves in the fight to break into the overall Top 30 by the end of the day.

Above all, Baja Aragón was a valuable learning experience for the team in an event of true international calibre. GRS leaves Teruel with a wealth of knowledge that will be crucial for the upcoming rounds of the championship. While the team is still adapting to this demanding discipline, the progress is clear. The goal now is to build on this momentum and continue improving throughout the season.

CERTT returns on September 5–6 for the fifth and penultimate round of the championship. The next stop will once again take the team to Aragón, this time for the 6th edition of the Cierzo Rally Ejército de Tierra, based in Zuera (Zaragoza).
